Let the Tournament Begin

Article By: Brent Bartchak
BRUNSWICK, OH- - Brunswick’s game against Elyria (12-8, 2-8) was delayed by one day because of Friday’s snowstorm, but that didn’t bring down the Blue Devils motivation to bring home a victory on senior night. This was Brunswick last game of the regular season as the tournament starts Monday. The Blue Devils first game will be on Tuesday.

The gym lacked energy as the game was played on Saturday afternoon, and the Pioneers used that to their advantage to stay close in the game. Brunswick was up the whole first half and went into halftime with a 27-19 lead. The Blue Devils would come out in the second half with the same intensity as the first half and cruised to a 71-57 victory. The most exciting moment of the game was when coach Joe Mackey put the five seniors on the court near the end of the game. Those seniors were Anthony Ocacio, Ray J Brown, Zach Gresch, Matt Dunning, and Pat Forsythe. These senior have put so much hard work into this season and it was great to see coach Mackey honor them like that.

Brunswick finished the regular season with 13-7 record and had a conference record of 5-5. They will face Cloverleaf (4-16) on March 1st at Midview high school. Tipoff is a 7:30.

JV Score:
Brunswick’s JV team also beat the Pioneers 55-46.

C'Mon now Cleveland Fans

This past Monday the Cleveland sports world was put into a tizzy because of a twitpic. Yes, I said twitpic. Josh Cribbs of the Browns posted a picture of LeBron James with "My Boy @KingJames", at the NBA All-Star Game below it. What really frustrated me was the way my fellow Cleveland Fans got so upset. On WKNR, I heard people actually saying they wanted the Browns to get rid of him because he took a picture of hid friend. I remember what James did to the city, the team, and us the fans, but at what point do we all just need to let it go. For me, I let it go after December 2nd when we all know what happened. Now my question is to those who were so upset by a twitpic, when will you let it go?

As for Cribbs, I know he was in Dan Gilbert's seats, but to me, that still does not warrant the negativity that was directed his way. He can be friends with anyone he wants to be. As long as he is a good person off the field and great player on the field, I am perfectly okay with him being friends with LeD-bag James. I you were apart of the group who got offended by the twitpic, all I have to say is C'MON MAN and GET OVER IT!!!

Oh, How the Mighty Have Fallen

Yes, my fellow Cavs fan, the team that this year is the quickest to 40 losses was the team who last year, was the quickest to 40 wins. It has been an awful year for the Cavs to say the least. Gone is the promise of a Championship, pizazz of the home court, and yes, the star player, but I feel this year is exactly what the Cavs needed to officially move on. I know it is hard to watch, in fact I have to be honest. I did not watch a single minute of the Cavs vs Heat played on January 31st. I knew the Cavs were going to get killed and I did not feel like seeing you know who dominate again. I know it is tough, but we will all be better for it in the long run.

Maybe the Cavs will do it right this time by building a team through the draft, ala Oklahoma City and not cater to one guy. Maybe they will build a team to contend for many years and not just to win one championship. Maybe just maybe. I have hope with Dan Gilbert. I heard former Plain Dealer Cavs Reporter Brian Windhorst on "The Really Big Show" say that Cavs fans should beleive in Gilbert. He brought up a really good point and that is the Cleveland Casino, which opens in 2012. Dan Gilbert will want 20,000 people to come to The Q and then go to the Casino after the game. What will make people come to The Q? The answer is a quality product. That means we might have to endure a couple more tough seasons, but look out for the 2012-2013 season. That could be the season we see our Cavaliers return to prominence and more importantly, relevance again. Maybe just maybe.
