Indians sweep Rays with 2-1 victory

The Indians haven't had much to be happy about this year, but that changed Thursday afternoon.  The Tribe not only has a 4-game win streak, but they swept the Tampa Bay Rays in the process with a 2-1 victory.  Rookie pitcher David Huff made his second start, this one was much better than the first.  Huff went 4 innings giving up 4 hits and striking out 2.  The bullpen of RP Jensen Lewis, RP Matt Herges, RP Rafael Betancourt, and Kerry Wood stifled the Rays.  Victor Martinez had 2 RBI for the Tribe in the win.  The Indians now improve to 21-28 on the year and still in fourth in the Central division.  Tampa Bay drops to 23-27 on the year.

Next up for the Tribe is a four game series with the NY Yankees at Progressive Field starting tomorrow and ending on Monday.

Indians Owner has mild heart attack

Indians Owner Larry Dolan had a mild heart attack Wednesday.  See the short story below:

Deep Thoughts- Cavs versus Magic Series

After watching the Cavs and Magic series, I have gathered some opinions of what I have seen so far.  Some of my opinions could be biased because I am from Cleveland and a die hard Cleveland sports fan.  There will be good and bad thoughts but, I think it tells how I feel.  So feel free to comment on what you think about the series.

About Both Teams
1st- There has been some great basketball played by both teams, whether its hitting a clutch shot, or making the extra pass, both teams have played well.

2nd- Both teams are so evenly matched, every game makes you have at-least one heart attack.  Gotta love playoff basketball!!

3rd- Both teams have their star players make everyone around them better, for the most part.  That being Lebron James and Dwight Howard.

The Orlando Magic

1st- How can everyone say Dwight Howard is amazing and the best PF in the league?  OK I will give him his height and strength, but so far all I have seen him do is bum rush in the low post, make lay-ups and dunks. Wow congratulations make an outside shot.  Half of his plays are offensive fouls that the referee looks the other way.  I will give him credit he has improved his free throw's and made some good defensive plays but, any other player would be called for fouls.
2nd- If I hear the Orlando Magic cry one more time about the referee's and the calls I will laugh.  Have they seen the same game I have?  For most of the series they have gotten a majority of the calls.  And after the NBA goes back and looks at plays they rescind the calls anyway, favoring....... yes the Magic.  I am referring to Anthony Johnson's play and Dwight Howard's technical foul that also was taken away.

The Cavaliers

1st- Lebron James has been simply amazing in this series, but driving to the basket needs to be a top priority.  He can have whatever he wants and creates in many ways when he accomplishes this.  Its much more effective than a fade away three, he tends to take.  Also 4th quarter free throws have been  a struggle.  That can be brushed off though because he made two free throws when it mattered in game 3.

2nd-  The cast has been absent from most of this series, and need to make their presents felt in game 4 or this series will be history.

3rd- Defensively the Cavs have been unable to slow down Orlando's three point shooting.  Switching, and double teaming has not worked, creating mis-matches all over the floor.

The Cavs have a tough task at hand but, as I always say its still not over.  I had to vent about this because it has bugged me all week.  Now I feel much better.  What does everyone out there feel about this series?

Indians win again 5-1 versus Rays.

The Cavaliers keep losing, but the Indians keep winning, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 on Tuesday night.  Carl Pavano got win #5 on the year , and he continues to improve. Pavano has now won 5 of his last 6 starts.  Read the full story below:

Tribe takes on tampa Bay again Wednesday and Thursday before taking on the Yanks at home this weekend.

Orlando beat Cavs in OT 116-114.

The Cavs continue their struggles in the second half of games versus the Orlando Magic.  Lebron scored his usual 40+ points but his sidekicks could again not do the job to get the Cavaliers over the hump.  Now Cleveland must win three in a row if they want to advance to the NBA Championship.   SEE Game 3's story by clicking the link below:

Orlando now takes a 3-1 lead.  Next game Thursday at Cleveland 8:30pm tip.

BG Alum Nolan Reimold hits HR for Orioles

BG Alum Nolan Reimold received the call up to the Major Leagues this last week.  On the season he has a .250 average and hit his first HR against the NY Yankees Wednesday night in an 11-4 loss.  The outfielder got the call up because of injuries and has making making the most of his opportunity.  He has had hits in 4 of the last 5 games he has played so far this year.  See the story below:

Orlando fights back! Beats Cavs 107-106

If the Cavs want to win this series, they are going to need everyone to help Lebron on offense.  That wasn't the case in game 1.  Orlando beat the Cavs on a Rashard Lewis 3-pointer with 14.7 seconds left 107-106.  Dwight Howard proved to be physical with the Cavaliers scoring 30 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.  For the Cavs, Lebron James scored a playoff career high with 49 points, that proved to not be enough.  Delonte West missed a wide open 3-pointer with seconds left as the Cavs fell in game 1.  See the story below:

Keys: Offensively-  For the Cavs to win this series Mo Williams, and Delonte West are going to have too make their open shots and make the Magic's slow recovering defense pay.  They did that in the first half and Orlando started off slow.  Lebron James needs help offensively if the Cavs are going to win this series.

Defensively:  I like that they let Dwight Howard have the two point field goals, it took their 3-point shooting out of the game in the first half.  The second half was a different story.  Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu, and an array of others did not miss.  The defense needs to out hustle, and not fall asleep on cuts and picks.  With hard picks in enabled the Orlando shooters just a little gap to hit the big shot.

Lebron James was happy to receive the MVP trophy, but he was more happy to win game 1 versus the Atlanta Hawks 99-72.  Lebron and the Cavs started slow, but it didn't take long to lose the rust as they jumped out to a 12 point lead early in the game.  The Hawks would stay close in the first half only trailing by 5 at half.  The second half was a different story.  The Cavaliers won the third and fourth quarters by 11.  Newly crowned MVP Lebron James led the Cavs with 34 points.  Mo Williams helped out with 24 points, and Delonte West pitched in with 13 points.
