K2 Traded to Bucs

Kellen Winslow will no longer be a Cleveland Brown.  News out of Browns headquarters, has Kellen Winslow heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for undisclosed draft picks.  GM George Kokinis thanked Kellen for his services and dedication to the Browns after the last 5 years.  Kokinis thinks trading Winslow will give the Browns flexibility in the draft, and much added depth on the team.

Winslow, the sixth overall pick in the 2004 draft and son of Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr., played in 44 games and recorded 219 receptions for 2,459 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Browns are starting over with their roster under a new head coach in Eric Mangini and a new general manager in George Kokinis.

Currently the Browns have 2 Tight Ends left under contract, that being Steve Heiden, and Martin Rucker.

Cavaliers interested in former Spur Robert Horry

The Cavaliers are in need of a big man.  The 6'10 Robert Horry is still a free agent and is out there for the Cavaliers, if they can convince him to come back.  Danny Ferry would be the man to do it. Horry and Ferry are familiar with each other, both formerly with the Spurs organization for many years.  Horry, 38, a free agent, hasn't played a game this season. He made his name coming off the bench for the Spurs the last five seasons. A 6-10 forward and center, Horry has 16 seasons in the NBA. His career average is 7 points per game."

Laveranues Coles to Browns or Miami?

After Laveranues Coles split from the Jets, there have been rumors that he could become a Cleveland Brown or a Miami Dolphin.  The Miami scenario makes sense if he reunites with his good friend Chad Pennington there, and he is originally a native from Jacksonville, FL.  That would be a nice fit for him.

Another scenario has Coles headed to the Browns, where he was close with current Browns Head Coach Eric Mangini.   Mangini went to visit Coles when he had contract problems before last season, and both agreed with not wanting QB Brett Favre in NY.  This could be a good fit for not only Coles, but the Cleveland Browns who need another play-maker at the wide receiver position.

Appealing Free Agents for Browns

The Free Agent pool is coming upon us.   Rumors swirl about the Browns and possible players coming here.  Not to mention, rumors of Pro Bowl player Shaun Rogers wanting out of Cleveland after only one year.  Which the team and Rogers Agent says are not true.  Some players the Browns are considering and looking at to fill some holes could be:

Eric Barton, Jets, ILB-  Started 46 games for Eric Mangini and could be viewed as a stopgap starter.

Hank Poteat, Jets, CB-  Favorite of Mangini's and capable of filling in a CB and Safety.

Cody Spencer, Jets, ILB- Backup who also played special teams.  Will be only 28 eyars old in June.

Jason Brown, Ravens C- Powerful center and could make alot of money and be the highest paid at this position when all said and done.

Jim Leonhard, Ravens, FS-  Kokinis' prized discoveries who will be sought by the Jets and Rex Ryan.

Rashad Baker, Raiders, FS- Could be second option if Browns can't get Leonhard.  Career backup that is looking to get a starting position somewhere.

Deltha O'Neal, Patriots, CB-  Started 10 games for New England and is 31 years old.

James Sanders, Patriots, FS- Led New England DB's in tackles while starting the last two years.

Jake Grove, Raiders, C- Had 44 starts in 5 years with Oakland

Cleveland News

Cleveland Browns

Eric Mangini hasn't had much of a social life since he took over the Cleveland Browns head coaching job. Mangini hired former San Francisco assistant George Warhop as his offensive line coach and said he has “four or five” spots on his staff to fill. Mangini has been busy with new GM George Kokinis watching film and familiarizing themselves with the Browns Roster.

Early in his news conference, Mangini explained his decision to remove a mural of Browns Hall of Famers from a wall near the player’s entrance. Mangini said he wants to move the mural to a high-traffic area inside the team’s headquarters and that in no way was he trying to distance himself from Cleveland’s glorious past.

Rather, he is embracing it.

Mangini looks to hire more of his staff, and get used to the Browns Roster now. He will have some decisions to make with the staff and also with QB's Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson. Mangini said he is up for the task.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Mo Williams was happy when the Cavaliers signed his friend Trey Johnson to a 10-day contract. Johnson averaged over 20 points a game Bakersfield in the NBA Development League.

Johnson averaged 20.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 39.2 minutes per game for the Jam. He also led the D-League by making 46 percent (36-of-78) of his 3-point attempts.

Johnson, who will wear No. 24 for the Cavs, played at Jackson State (Miss.), where he averaged 27.1 points as a senior in 2007.
