Indians trade Betancourt, Lee next?

The Indians have been disappointing to many Tribe fans this year. Having one of the worst records in baseball is nothing to be happy about. That sets the Indians up for starting over and trading key players for prospects. Relief pitcher Rafael Betancourt was the first to get traded. Betancourt is headed to the Rockies for a young minor league pitcher, Connor Graham. Graham is 6'7 and has spent all season at Class A Modesto of the California League. The 24- year old went 7-4 with a 3.14 ERA in 16 starts. Graham will be sent to Double A Akron according to GM Mark Shapiro. See the Full Story below:

Other Indians News:

Sources have said the Indians are close to trading Pitcher Cliff Lee to the Tampa Bay Rays. GM Mark Shapiro has not said if Lee and Martinez are drawing interest from other teams, but word is he wants a deal that will benefit the team in the future. Shapiro wants good, solid, top prospects, and if he doesn't get that, chances of reaching a trade are slim.

Draft Pick Eyenga picks Spanish Club over Cavs

The Cavaliers thought they could groom young G Christian Eyenga. They won't have the chance now, as Eyenga decided to sign a 3-year deal with the Spanish Club DKV Joventut that Ricky Rubio used to play for. Eyenga thanked the Cavs for their opportunity but turned it down and said he wasn't ready for the NBA yet. Eyenga according to sources can have an option after every year to come play for the Cavs, then determine if he is ready for the NBA. So he can still be a Cavalier, with time. Jamario Moon signed by Cavs to Offer Sheet

The Cavaliers have made some recent moves that express their will to get better, by adding young and veteran talent. First they traded for Shaq, then went out and signed Anderson Varejao who proved to be a guy that will hustle, and give you the defense that make teams great. Trying to be a Championship team this year, the Cavaliers realized they needed tall, lengthy players that can play defense on the perimeter. So they went out and signed veteran G/F Anthony Parker and now signed an offer sheet to G/F Jamario Moon who is 29 years old and has gotten better each of the past two seasons. Moon is 6'8 and has great defensive ability but has averaged almost 8 pts a game and 5.4 rebounds. The Heat are expected not to match the Cavs offer, which has a midlevel exception to play with of $3.2 million. The Heat still have seven days to match the Cavs offer.

Varejao, and Parker both sign deals with Cavs, Other NBA News

If you think the Cavaliers are going to sit around and watch playoff teams make moves you are mistaken.

The Cavaliers first signed PF Anderson Varejao to a 6-year contract that that could pay him $50 million in incentives. It is closer to about $7 million a year. Then, the Cavaliers jumped at the chance to add another "perfect piece" to the puzzle. Free agent veteran swingman Anthony Parker signed a 2-year deal work $6 million a year. Parker averaged 10.7 points 3.4 assists last year playing in 80 games for the Raptors. Parker is a player that is 6-6 and can guard the perimeter. Not to mention in his career he averaged about 4 rebounds a game. A much needed piece the Cavaliers have been looking for. Now the Cavs can focus on another big man in free agency.

NBA News:

Anthony Parker comes from a rich family history in basketball. His father, Larry was the first freshman to start a basketball game at the University of Iowa . His sister, Candace plays in the WNBA with the Los Angelas Sparks after being selected first and graduating from the University of Tennessee.

The Magic matched the offer of the Mavericks to keep 7-foot center Marcin Gortat.

Ben Gordon and Villanueva agree with Pistons

Ben Gordon walked out of Detroit today with an agreement that will make him a Piston when free agents can sign. The deal is a 5-year deal worth 55 million dollars. July 8th is the first day officially free agents can sign contracts. The Pistons reportedly also agreed with PF Charlie Villanueva to a 5- year 35 million dollar contract.

The Pistons get two solid players that could make a difference immediately. Do you think Ben Gorndon fits in Detroit? I thought Ben Gordon was another guard who reminded me of Allen Iverson. He needed alot of touches to be successful. Now you have two players who can score, along with Rip Hamilton who already was displeased coming off of the bench. This could work or it could be a disappointment that leads to another familiar season.
Now the Cavaliers have some decisions to make considering they were high on Villanueva who surprised us by going to Detroit with friend Ben Gordon. Their are still some talented players out there such as Lakers Lamar Odom, Utah Paul Millsap, Knicks PF David Lee, Rockets SF Ron Artest, Toronto SF Shawn Marion, and many others that might not be big named free agents, but could have a big impact on this team. Stay tuned for more details on this big year for free agency.
