Brunswick Weekend Recap

The Blue Devils Friday matchup at Medina was a much anticipated game after the Bees beat Brunswick twice last season and the Blue Devils were looking for some revenge. Not only was this a great conference matchup, but it was a chance for fans to watch two division one recruits battle it out on the hardwood. Those two athletes that drew the fans in were Brunswick’s Pat Forsythe (committed to West Virginia) and Medina’s Kenny Kaminski (recruited by Michigan State). Although Forsythe almost had a triple double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks, the Bees (2-0, 1-0) battled for a dominating 61-37 victory over the Blue Devils. Brunswick couldn’t set their own tempo and the Bee’s took advantage of the Blue Devils young guards by trapping them before they could reach half court and this lead to 18 turnovers.

Brunswick would not have to wait long to bounce back after their loss to Medina as they had a game Saturday evening against Triway (2-3) at the Steve Smith WQKT Holiday Hoops Classic. The Blue Devils got off to an early start as Forsythe got a quick bucket right off the start. He went onto score 10 of the teams 16 points in the first quarter. Brunswick played a great first half and lead 39-18 at halftime. Sophomore Kyle Wheeler looked unstoppable behind the 3-point line and finished the night with 15 points. The Blue Devils would not look back after halftime and cruised to 61-49 victory. Forsythe was dominating on both sides of the ball and finished with 29 points, 16 rebounds and 11 blocks, receiving the triple double and most importantly the victory.

After this weekend’s play, the Blue Devils are now 3-2 on this young season but fall to 0-1in the conference.
