I haven't had a post since August when the Indians called it quits and traded their main players away. Now the Browns Season has come, and halfway threw they are more disorganized than ever before!
Finally, Head Coach Eric Mangini realized Derek Anderson after 5 games wasn't getting any better, and we better go with Brady Quinn the rest of the season.
Anderson seems to still have problems with his footwork, and mechanics in the pocket. Not to mention he still loves forcing passes into triple coverage and just hopes a Browns receiver catches it.
The Wide Receiving core is a whole separate issue. How many times have we seen dropped balls this year when the passes hit their hands???? Robert Royal is one example of a tight end who was signed to come in and be a big part of the offense. Instead its been one drop after another. We drafted a few wide receivers in the second round Mahamed Massaquoi (Georgia), and Brian Robiske (Ohio State). Massaquoi has been a starter which has been up and down. You see glimpses of a solid wide receiver and he also has been plagued by drops. Robiske has hardly stepped foot on the field.
Looking at the draft that has had players stepping in and showing signs of stardom, makes this Browns staff look as if they didn't do their homework. Percy Harvin with the Vikings is a great example, he was drafted late first round and he has been a stud this year making big plays.
The defense has been stingy at times and been solid but its tough to be good when your offense gives the opposing team great field position every other down. Regardless the corner backs with Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald are not the answer. They have been running around on the field not knowing whats going on. Burned on every other pass, not to mention not making the tackles when it matters.
Overall this season has been a disaster, and the needs are obvious. Start at Quarterback, if Brady Quinn can't grasp the concept the rest of the season, bring in someone that will. Bring in some play makers that defenses will fear on the field. Next, bring in a secondary that can shut down wide receivers, and make tackles. Lastly, finding a defensive end opposite of Kamerion Wimbley would be the pass pressure the Browns need. That would force quarterbacks to think quicker, forcing them into tough situations, and turnovers.
If you have thoughts please add a comment! Now its time to relieve your stress on this team!
